How oftentimes should I replace my thermal paste?

Hello, I have an i7-2600k and it'southward been a little over a year since I got a new heat sink fan. I had put a new layer of paste down, which was provided with the fan at that time. Am I over due or how much longer should I wait?

Trust him OP. I congenital my Counter-Strike Source set up PC in 2003. It has a Pentium iv, 3Gb of RAM (which was a LOT at the time) and a 128Mb video card. It has the same thermal paste since the terminal ten+ years and it's still running strong ! (Well, alive, just not that strong anymore)

Question: I installed my CPU and heatsink last night . I didn't get the heatsink locked down all the way, (fan was actually stuck past it'southward ain cord) so i pulled information technology off and put it back down. Should I apply some thermal paste tonight before using it? It was the intel heatsink that already had thermal gel applied on the lesser.
